Taking part in a hilarious challenge for Avocados from Mexico, Leylah Fernandez was oblivious that she was getting pranked. She tasted three masked smoothies placed in front of her.
But all three turned out to be the same. A pay-off certainly for a collaboration, Fernandez started working with them last year and through their partnership has advocated for a healthier lifestyle as their brand name suggests. Fernandez, the former US Open finalist tasted the first smoothie which was kale, spinach, vanilla and avocados as a guess.
Before being seen tasting the second and third smoothies. She guessed that it was a variety of ingredients including banana, pineapple and strawberries. But she was left fooled when in reality all three were the exact same.
"Come on! They all tasted the same. I just didn't know. I felt bad if I say no it's the same," Fernandez laughed but in her post, it was certainly a good endorsement for their brand and avocados as she described.
"I got fooled. Watch until the end. My turn to get fooled - the team from @avocadosfrommexico.ca really got me this time!!! BUT they have also converted me to avocado smoothies. If you haven’t tried, you should. They’re awesome and loaded with healthy fats which are so good for you whether you’re an athlete or not!" Fernandez wrote on Instagram.
Fernandez now moves on to the grass court season after a fairly underwhelming clay court foray. Her best was reaching the third round at the French Open. There she was defeated by Ons Jabeur. She looked to spring a shock looking good in the opening set before losing it. Jabeur saved a set point at 5-4 up in the second and then set up a tie-break before eventually sealing the win to end Fernandez's hopes for this year.
