Today is a special day in tennis as
Serena Williams will play her 1000th career match and for that occasion, Djokovic sent a personal message.
In a video message posted by the official ATPTour Twitter page, Djokovic took the opportunity to congratulate Serena Williams on 1000 career matches. The tennis legend will play later today at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia Rome Masters and which is her 1000th career match. In the video Djokovic said:
"Hey, Serena, congratulation on your big milestone playing the 1000th match in your career. Words can not describe how much you contributed to the tennis in general, both male and female side. You've been an icon to this sport. Thank you so much for everything you have done on and off the court and what you keep on doing.
You inspire me and many other players on both men's and women's side. We are so excited to same the same era with you. Wishing you all the best, keep going, and happy to still watch you on the court."
The message is a heartfelt one from Djokovic highlighting just how much Serena Williams means to the sport of tennis, especially women's tennis. Her match against Nadia Podoroska is set to start at 14:00 CET.
