Video: Sam Stosur hits unbelievable shot that forces even her opponents to applaud at the United Cup

The United Cup kicked off this week and has already seen some amazing play, but a contender for shot of the year was produced by the unlikeliest of sources.

In a mixed doubles match between Australia and Great Britain, Aussie great Samantha Stosur teamed with compatriot John Peers to take on the British duo of Harriet Dart and Jonny O'Mara.

With Stosur serving, the hometown star attacked the net following a deep forehand approach shot. After failing to put away the initial volley, Stosur had a chance at redemption. The 2011 US Open champion hit a splendid forehand drop-volley that barely sailed over the net, dropping just inches on the other side besides Dart's best efforts to retrieve the ball. The crowd erupted in applause, and even the British box couldn't contain themselves as they gave Stosur a standing ovation.

Stosur and Peer would go on to win the match in straight sets, capping off a brilliant night for the Aussies.
