The world's leading players
Ashleigh Barty and
Simona Halep hit the court at A Day at the Drive in Adelaide on Friday, with the Romanian scoring a 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 triumph in just over an hour.
Following a long break from tennis, Barty looked sharp in the opening set, serving well and placing deep and accurate forehands to penetrate the opponent. Ashleigh claimed the opening set with a single break in game six before Simona took charge to dominate in set number two and cross the finish line after taking the match tie break 10-8.
Trailing 5-2 in the first set, Simona played a great tweener one meter behind the baseline after Ashleigh's crafty lob, doing her everything to win the point but losing it in the end.
