"Was a good one coming from the first set medical": Amanda Anisimova throws shade at Mirra Andreeva amid Miami Open blister drama

Amanda Anisimova booked her spot in the Last 16 of the Miami Open breaking the streak of Mirra Andreeva and the American was quick to throw shade at the teenager afterwards on social media.

Fraught by an incident which saw Anisimova decide to call for the trainer mid game during Andreeva's serve. Whilst not allowed normally, it is for an immediate issue.

Andreeva didn't see it that way and decided to imply that Anisimova was breaking her rhythm. She went back to the umpire after calling for the physio saying she couldn't hold her racquet.

"She has a right. The physio will determine if it's now or later," the umpire commented, to which Andreeva replied, "We all know why."

“My skin broke on my finger," Anisimova explained afterward as per Tennis.com. "When you get an acute injury you’re allowed to take a timeout, so that’s what I did."

But on her Instagram story in the aftermath, Anisimova stoked the fire. She wrote "We all know why at 3-1 up was a good time coming from the 1-2 first set medical." This was on her Instagram story as the American showed off her finger and the blister on her finger to prove that she was telling the truth.

That first set medical she is referring to saw Andreeva take time out for an issue with her stomach and abdominal while 2-1 down. Anisimova saved five break points to hold for 4-3 and the physio returned with the same issue for Andreeva.

Conchita Martinez kept telling her it would pass. But Anisimova prevailed 7-6, 2-6, 6-3. Next up is a player that the American is friends with off court and has had similar to Anisimova her issues in the past year or so in Emma Raducanu.

Raducanu had a pretty simple nights work in seeing off McCartney Kessler with the American retiring injured pretty early on. This after two wins prior for Raducanu and Anisimova will hope the blister doesn't manifest itself.
