We still haven't moved on from the shambles of Madrid and now this. Misogyny is ingrained in pro tennis😐
Tennis fans are not happy with a question that was asked of Aryna Sabalenka at the Rome Open suggesting that misogyny is ingrained at the Italian Open.
There have been quite a few odd moments at the Madrid Open recently which got everybody talking. First, we saw Carlos Alcaraz received a much larger cake than Aryna Sabalenka which got many wondering whether he was getting preferential treatment. To be fair, Holger Rune got a small one as well so it wasn't necessarily an ATP - WTA thing.
Yesterday however we saw Sabalenka get asked something which many fans found inappropriate as it suggested that she 'plays like a man'. We bring your some of the reactions below:
“We still haven't moved on from the shambles of Madrid and now this. Misogyny is ingrained in pro tennis.”
“‘To return and serve like a man almost’ - I think I threw up.”
“Amazing to ask both a misogynistic and racist question in two sentences!”
"From Madrid to Rome, the shame sh*t again and again."
"the misogyny just never ends does it. disgusting"
