Tennis coach Pere Riba has opened up breakup with America’s
Coco Gauff after the US Open glory. The two formed an incredible partnership which
led to the title triumph of the 19-year-old.
However, Gauff ended her association with Riba after the title
triumph which came to the surprise of many. Riba was recently quoted in a report
where he revealed how both tried to find a solution but it was of no use.
“Everything was perfect,” he said. “The situation was that I
had some issues in my family. And you know, in that moment, my family needed
me. I had to come back. And then, you know, was personal things. I felt that I
had to be here.
“For me, it was a difficult situation, tough decision. Both
of us, we tried to find a solution, but when these things happen, you cannot
control. But everything was perfect; I enjoyed it a lot. Good results; good
improvement. I only can positive things. I was living in the States, of course,
when this happened. [I just came back to fix things in my family].”
Gauff is termed as one of the most highly-rated players
currently playing in the women’s singles category. She lived up to the hype
after winning his maiden Grand Slam after beating the current world number two
Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 2–6, 6–3, 6–2.
