This though wasn't for the same reason as others with injury paying heed to her hopes of competing at Flushing Meadows.
She hopes though to be fit enough to compete at the French Open which begins on September 20 but for now, the current total of withdrawals sits at 20 from the singles draw.
"During COVID-19, my injury recovery is going better with new treatment but not yet 100% to be ready for US Open, Me and my team sadly to decide that I will not play the US Open this summer to have more time to get ready for the clay court tournament (Roland Garros)," she wrote on Facebook.
