After compiling what many consider to be a breakthrough season, tennis player
Beatriz Haddad Maia has been honored as one of the nominees for 2023 Athlete of the Year in her native land of Brazil.
The 27-year old established many firsts during the 2023 season, reaching the semifinals and fourth round at the French Open and Wimbledon respectively, breaking into the top 10 in the process. Additionally, she won her maiden WTA 1000 doubles title at Madrid, alongside Victoria Azarenka. Haddad Maia capped off an impressive season by winning the title at the
WTA Elite Trophy, ending the year at World No.11.

The Sao Paulo native had an incredible season, and was nominated for Athlete of the Year alongside her compatriots from other sport. Joining Haddad Maia on the list was Rebeca Andrade, who captivated audiences with her performance in Artistic Gymnastics.
The duo of Ana Patricia & Duda were also honored for their performance in Beach Volleyball, with the teammates constantly adding more silverware to their collection thanks to their dominant performance on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour and Beach Volleyball World Championship.
