The WTA season has come to a close after the enthralling conclusion to the WTA Finals. While the top two remain firmly seated, big moves have been made in the top 10 while double specialists have also capitalised on the chance to move up.

New name joins the top three

Despite not winning the event, Aryna Sabalenka has managed to extend her commanding lead at the top after collecting a nice pay check for coming runners-up in the WTA Finals. The $2,695,000 she won moves her further away from the chasing pack, surpassing the $15,000,000 mark. She ends the campaign with a staggering $15,008,519 won in 2025. This shows off the consistency she portrays at the very top level.
Someone known for their consistency, Iga Swiatek, remains in second. Failure to make it out the group saw her win $695,000 after disappointingly winning just one match. This has helped her climax past the $10,000,000 mark, with the Pole finishing up with $10,112,532.
The biggest mover in the top 50 was Elena Rybakina. Ahead of the event in Riyadh she was lurking down in ninth after not enjoying her best year on tour. This completely changed after winning the WTA Finals. Doing this feat unbeaten yielded her even more cash. She earnt an eye-watering $5,235,000 for her undefeated triumph. She leapfrogs the likes of Coco Gauff and Amanda Anisimova to move into third place by a decent margin over the Americans. Her final tally rounded off at $8,456,632. Before her title, she was stranded on $3,221,632, showing how much one tournament benefited the Kazakh.

Trio of Americans follow, Mertens breaks into top 10

It looked almost certain that Gauff would finish where she has done in the previous few years: with Sabalenka and Swiatek. However, this was not the case after Rybakina's rampant run. She drops a place to fourth after claiming just one win in the group phase, ending with $7,969,845. Anisimova closes the gap to Gauff but could not pip her to a top four place. She finishes a sublime season in fifth with $7,260,577, while a semi-final for Jessica Pegula pushes her up a place into sixth with $5,262,311.
Despite competing in both events, Jasmine Paolini fell down the order two places into seventh. She managed just one win with Sara Errani in the doubles and succumbed to a trio of defeats in the singles. This was a golden opportunity for her to climb the ladder, but unfortunately she sinks just behind Pegula with $5,253,997. Mirra Andreeva was unlucky not to feature in both tournaments, but had to settle for the doubles. She and her partner, Diana Shnaider, lost all of their matches. Only $71,000 was added as she culminates in eighth on $4,726,226 while Madison Keys sits in ninth with $4,357,787.
Belinda Bencic, who was formerly in the top 10, has fallen four places partly due to the triumphant run Elise Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova experienced. The duo won the WTA Finals doubles event in triumphant fashion. They both pocketed a cool $533,500, which saw Mertens ($2,895,029) to break into the top 10 and Kudermetova ($2,809,563) to sit just behind in 11th, both inclining three places. Ekaterina Alexandrova's $210,000 earnt from competing in one match saw her rise to 12th ($2,689,766) with Bencic falling to 13th ($2,609,769).
Aside from that, both Jelena Ostapenko ($2,328,202) and Shnaider ($2,148,649) rose two places to 15th and 18th respectively. A semi-final in the doubles saw Katerina Siniakova ($2,146,427) rise four places to 19th and Taylor Townsend ($2,108,587) shoot up three to 21st after accumulating $179,000. The only other player to rise was Errani, whose $107,000 earned from a group exit was enough to jump above Marta Kostyuk into 25th.
