It was anoucned yesterday that the WTA Finals will most likely take place in Guadalajara, Mexico at the end of the season and the top 8 players will compete for the prestigious Finals trophy. No significant changes hapepned at the top as Ashleigh Baryt still holds number one ahead of Sabalenka and Krejcikova. Maria Sakkari made a signifnicat jump becoming number 6 in the race after another great showing at a grand slam.
Naomi Osaka is now 7th, Muguruza is 8th, Jabeur is 9th, Pavlyuchenkova is 10th. The Russian moved up a spot as did Elise Mertens with Coco Gauff slipping down to number 12. Emma Raducanu broke a record by jumping 109 spots after her US Open triumph being ranked 14th in the race at the moment. The British player is only 400 points away from the 8th spot which guarantees a place in Guadalajara and the WTA Finals seem in reach.
If she continues to play well she has a decent chance of having practically no points to defend for the rest of the year with several notable events coming up.
