WTA Rankings update: Paula Badosa, Emma Raducanu surge up after impressive outings in Washington

Spain’s tennis star Paula Badosa and Britain’s Emma Raducanu have gained massively in the updated WTA rankings. The official rankings in the women’s singles category were announced on Monday with some notable changes. Badosa, who did not participate in the Paris Olympics and instead opted to play in the Citi Open, gained 22 spots and claimed the 40th in the WTA rankings.

She lifted the title in Washington after beating Czech Republic’s Marie Bouzkova in the final on Sunday with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. In addition to her, Britain’s Raducanu gained 20 spots and claimed the 69th rank in the updated rankings. Her journey in the Citi Open ended at the quarterfinals stage, where she lost to Badosa with a score of 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Russia’s Kamilla Rakhimova gained 12 spots and moved into top-10 despite losing in the round of 16 in Washington to Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. Hungary’s Anna Bondar also gained 12 spots in the rankings after winning the ITF Germany event with a win over Ekaterina Makarova in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-0, 6-2. America’s Robin Montgomery gained 24 spots in the rankings after an impressive outing in the Citi Open. She was eventually defeated in the quarterfinal by Bouzkova in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-1.

America’s Amanda Anisimova made the most significant jump forward in the top 200 players in the WTA rankings as she gained 44 spots and secured 132 rank in the rankings after an impressive outing in Washington. She was knocked out in the quarterfinal by fellow American Caroline Dolehide with a score of 7-6, 6-1. Poland’s Iga Swiatek continues to lead the women’s rankings in the singles category with 11,005 rating points. She is followed by America’s Coco Gauff with 7,703 points and Belarus’ Sabalenka with 7,256 points.
