The grass swing is well and truly up and running. Tournaments in England and the Netherlands have been played out with there change in the WTA rankings.
Gras is a very short period in the calendar but can be opportunistic for those who can take their chances. It can be a pivotal part of the year for many who enjoy this surface with it all building up to Wimbledon starting at the end of June.

Rybakina fails to close the gap at the top

Aryna Sabalenka still leads the WTA rankings by a considerable margin. Elena Rybakina matched her run at Queen’s Club Championships last year with a quarter-final, leaving the points gap at just under 900. The pair of them will headline the Berlin Open field.
Iga Swiatek will not be there. The reigning Wimbledon champion will soon have a lot to defend. Jessica Pegula stays in fourth with Amanda Anisimova dropping a position after losing the points from her final at Queen’s last year. Mirra Andreeva is the one to benefit with as she climbs into fifth.
Victoria Mboko remains in ninth but is in danger of possibly falling down the order depending on how bad her knee injury is which is keeping her out of Wimbledon. Karolina Muchova caps off the top 10.
The next movement is Iva Jovic who is back up to 17th after a semi-final run at Queen’s. Going the other way is Ekaterina Alexandrova whose poor form continues with a slip to 19th. Leylah Fernandez and Clara Tauson both suffered early exits but rose a position thanks to Elise Mertens dropping 220 points, but only a two-place drop is in store for the Belgian. Anastasia Potapova and Marie Bouzkova respectively climb to 26th and 27th with Madison Keys tumbling further down.

Raducanu and Vekic big winners as Maria plummets

The big rises come from the Queen’s finalists. Emma Raducanu is back in the top 32 following a really positive return to grass on home soil. She clambered up 11 positions to 31st with Donna Vekic right behind her after an incredible rise. Vekic did not even qualify for the tournament yet left with a WTA 500 title and 500 more points added to her tally. She is now 33rd following a 43 place rise up the order.

A number of players have dropped due to these steep climbs. Barbora Krecjikova could have also been crowned a WTA title winner yesterday if it was not for an illness forcing her to withdraw from the final of the Libema Open s-Hertogenbosch. Still, she moves up six places into 39th as the winner, Robin Montgomery, soars up the rankings. She went into the tournament as the world number 484 following a successful qualifying stint. She came out the other side as ranked 194th following 290 positions gained.
A semi-final for Magda Linette in the Netherlands is worth a 12-position rise to 48th. For Boulter, a last-four appearance means much more. She continues her improved 2026 campaign with a return to the top 60. 17 places were gained as she sits 56th. Lucky loser Kamilla Rakhimova could do what Vekic did but still managed to win a match before exiting at the quarter-final stage, climbing to 65th.
Karolina Plsikova shows her worth on grass by reaching the quarter-final stage in London. This results in a +19 rise to 87th, back in the top 100. Ashlyn Kruger also reappears in the top 100 thanks to her title at the Ilkley Open. From 113th to 95th marks a successful week out. That cannot be said for the 2025 Queen’s champion Tatjana Maria. A seismic drop of 65 places is damage limitation after qualifying and winning a match in the main draw. She is out of the top 100 and can now be found in 117th.
