An entertaining week of tennis in the WTA calendar has passed and the new rankings bring Kvitova back to the top 10 as Barty reigns as number one.
The reigning world number one Ashleigh Barty played her first clay event in a very long time at the Volvo Car Open in Charleston but she did not go far so her ranking did not improve dramatically. One player who did move back up into the top 10 is Kvitova despite a short run in Charleston.
The event itself was won by Kudermetova as she jumps 9 spots to number 29 which is a career-high for her. Several other players had solid outings like Rogers who moved up six spots to 46 and Stephens who moved up 4 spots to 53. Danka Kovinic had a breakout performance in Charleston reaching a final and moving up 26 spots to 65.
Another player who had a dream weak was Maria Camila Osorio Serrano who won the Copa Colsanitas in Bogota becoming the first Colombian winner since 2004. The 19-year-old moves up 45 spots to number 136 announcing herself on the pro tour. As a junior, she won the 2019 US Open and was a former world number 1.
In total 5 players reached a career-high ranking today and they are as follows: Jabeur at 27, Kudermetova at 29, Rogers at 46, Badosa at 62 and Martincova at 96. Check out the full rankings below.
