Only 19-years-old Dayana Yastremska defeated Aryna Sabalenka to reach the final at the 2020 Adelaide International.

Yastremska did not kick-off her 2020 Season successfully when she lost to Kiki Bertens in the first round in Brisbane. However, everything is different for young Ukrainian in Adelaide. En route to the final, she did not lose a set and she confirmed her great form also against Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinal.
First, Yastremska outplayed Babos in the first round. Later, Angelique Kerber retired during the second-round match. But Yastremska defeated also her next opponent, Donna Vekic. In the semifinal, she faced Aryna Sabalenka who previously defeated Simona Halep in Adelaide.
The match was very close and just little margins decided about the winner. The Ukrainian kept a high-level of the points won after the first service when the number climbed to 79%. Dayana won the first set 6-4 and she did not allow her opponent to have a single breakpoint opportunity during that set.
In the second set, Sabalenka had her chances. After losing her first service game, she broke her opponent back in the 6th game and got the set to the tie-break. But there again, it was Yastremska who dominated the play and won it 7-4. In the final, she will meet the winner of the match between the first-seeded Ashleigh Barty and Danielle Collins.
