Benoit Paire and Ugo Humbert will be playing in the final at the 2020 ASB Classic in Auckland after the Frenchmen succeeded in their semifinal matches.
The first matchup was taken care of by fourth-seeded John Isner and
Ugo Humbert. The Frenchman has a great form in Auckland when he defeated Ruud, Cecchinato, and
Shapovalov. In the second match, another Frenchman, Benoit Paire wanted to secure his spot in the final.
In the first set of the match between Humbert and Isner, there were no breakpoints. Tie-break had to decide the first set and also there we have seen only one mini-break. Humbert got it on first Isner's service to gain an important lead in the match.
Humbert was relying on a great first service during the whole match when he has won all of the points after his first service. In the second send, no. 57 in the ATP Ranking had 7 break points but converted only one. However, that was enough to defeat Isner as he has won the second set 6-4 and booked the place in the first final this year.
In the second match, fifth-seeded Benoit Paire faced no.6 at the tournament Hubert Hurkacz. Paire won the first set comfortably 6-2 but he lost his lead in the second and after a tie-break, the Polish player leveled the score. But Paire was dominant in the third set again to set up a final against his countryman Humbert. It will be the second meeting of these two players when
Paire defeated Humbert 2-1 last year in Winston-Salem.
