Caitlyn
Jenner criticized Martina Navratilova for her opinions against transgender
inclusion in women's tennis.
The former
athlete Caitlyn Jenner joined the reactions regarding the acceptance of
transgender players in women's tennis by the USTA. The controversy arose after
transgender athlete Alicia Rowley won the women's tennis competition in the 55
years and older category of the USTA.
Kim Shasby
Jones, co-founder of the Independent Council on Women's Sports (ICONS),
expressed her opinion on Twitter and mentioned former world No. 1 Martina
Navratilova after the USTA decided to allow Rowley's participation
“Women’s
tennis is turning into a laughing stock because of these terrible policies
prioritizing the mental health and identity of men over women who have
discovered a love of tennis.
There is
already a category for male athletes to enjoy this privilege. Let female
athletes enjoy the game of tennis too,” Shasby Jones wrote on Twitter.
"Come
on @USTA - women’s tennis is not for failed male athletes- whatever age. This
is not right and it is not fair. Would this be allowed at the US Open this
month? Just with self ID? I don’t think so. …" Navratilova wrote.
In response
to Martina Navratilova's criticisms and opinions against transgender inclusion
in women's tennis, former Olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner fired back,
accusing Navratilova of having political biases and supporting certain
political causes.
“Agreed.
But why support Biden and the party that wants this to be the law of the land -
and BLOCKS - Republicans from protecting Title IX?! You can’t have it both
ways, Martina,” Jenner said.
It's not
the first time that Jenner has attacked Navratilova for her opinions, questioning
her several months ago
“She is
against trans women competing in women’s sports and I thought how hypocritical
of her. She is supporting all the candidates that are trying to destroy women’s
sports. How can you be on the left and support protecting women’s sports? And
it’s Republican candidates that are trying to protect Title IX,” Jenner said in
July, as per OutKick.
