The Abierto Mexicano Acapulco returns in 2021 with some of the best in the world competing at the event which will run from March 15th till 20th.
The top seed will be Stefanos Tsitsipas and he will be looking to shake off some of the disappointing results lately and joining him will be Alexander Zverev who has not fared much better on the courts. Joining them at the ATP 500 event will be many more great tennis such as Diego Schwartzman who is the 3rd seed and Milos Raonic who is the 4th seed. The strength of the event is shown by the draw itself as Zverev will play rising star Alcaraz in the 1st round while Stefanos will play Paire.
One noted absence will be Rafael Nadal who would have defended his title if he chooses to attend but things did not work out. If you are curious about what went wrong you can do so by reading our article conveniently placed above. With Nadal's absence the 28th edition of the event in Acapulco will receive a new champion and the contenders are many.
Grigor Dimitrov won the event in 2014 and he will be looking to do so again but facing Mannarino in the 1st round will be a tough task. Freshly anointed father Zverev came close in 2019 but ultimately lost so he will be motivated to do better this time around especially since he crashed out in the 2nd round last year.
