With Roland Garros comes the end of the clay court swing and the switch to grass begins on both the ATP and WTA side with the former starting with the MercedesCup in Stuttgart between June 8-13 2021.
The first edition of the tournament was held back in 1898, with MercedesBenz claiming title sponsorship back in 1979.
Like other tournaments such as the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, the incentive of a new Mercedes Benz goes alongside the
prize money on offer.
This year, it will be €618,735 total financial commitment on offer as per the
tournament organisers with the winner set to receive €53,280, the runner-up takes home €38,200 and this prize money goes all the way down to €7,010 for first round losers.
Points wise, it is 250 for the winner as per the ATP 250 with 150 for the runner-up. Those from Last 16 onwards collect points.
It is a star studded field with the likes of
Alexander Zverev,
Denis Shapovalov,
Jannik Sinner and
Aslan Karatsev among those involved.
