The 2022 Gijon Open is the first edition of this ATP 250 event with Andrey Rublev headling a solid field that includes wild card, Andy Murray.
Rublev recently played in Astana and he reached the semi-final where Stefanos Tsitsipas proved a bit better. He'll try to go all the way in Gijon where he'll face a much less dangerous field. Compared to Astana where he had to deal with the likes of Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Alcaraz and Djokovic, the second seed here is Pablo Carreno Busta, a fine player albeit not on that level.
Both he and Rublev will have a first round BYE with the Russian potentially facing either Ivashka or Feliciano Lopez and the Spaniard either facing Bonzi or Monteiro. Wild card Andy Murray will also be in action and he is facing native player Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Some other interesting matchups include Tommy Paul against Spanish supertalent Martin Landaluce, Dominic Thiem vs Joao Sousa, Sebastian Korda vs Jaume Munar and Sebastian Baez taking on Constant Lestienne. Check out the full draw below.
