Barbora Krejcikova completed a superb comeback win over
Iga Swiatek 5-7 7-6(4) 6-3 to win the 2022
Ostrava Open trophy.
For the second time in a row, Krejcikova will leave the Arena with the trophy as the Czech player made it back-to-back in Ostrava. She triumphed in Tallinn last week and added another trophy this week. It comes after a superb comeback win over Swiatek in the final that lasted over three hours.
The first set was an amazing one with Swiatke having to save early break points and taking over the match. She took a 5-1 but allowed Krejcikova to pull both breaks back and make it 5-5. Eventually, she was still able to win the set 7-5.
The second one opened well for Krejcikova who took a 2-0 lead and held it for a while but Swiatek battled back 4-4. We ended up in a tiebreak and Krejcikova played an amazing one with Swiatek misfiring a couple of times to give away the lead. In the final set Swiatke misfired some more and Krejciako proved more calm towards the end winning it 6-3.
