The 2022
Laver Cup will feature some of the best players in history but most fans don't really know what they get out of playing it.
Despite it being a very competitive and fun event that sees rivals team up to play for the same side, there is a bit more incentive for players to take part. There is
prize money to be won and it's fairly higher than what you could earn and most events.
For example, Daniil Medvedev is competing at the Moselle Open in Metz this week. It's your standard ATP 250 event running in the same week as the Laver Cup. If he wins that event he will get €81,310 as prize money. If he played at the Laver Cup he would get a minimum of $125,000 dollars which is far more.
Now Medvedev values the ATP points that he would get from that event but if your motivation is solely financial then playing the Laver Cup is much better. As noted above all players will get a minimum of $125,000 with each member of the winning team getting $250,000.
All players also get an appearance fee when they sign up and that is calculated based on their ranking. Those numbers are kept secret however so there you have it.
