An ATP 500 event, the event has crowned six German winners since its inaugural edition in 1993: Michael Stich (1994), Nicolas Kiefer (1999), David Prinosil (2000), Tommy Haas (2009 & 2012), Philipp Kohlschreiber (2011) and Florian Mayer (2016). Roger Federer won his 10th title in 2019, although the Swiss Maestro is yet to announce his participation at this year's event.
World No.2 Daniil Medvedev will be the top seed this year, and he will be joined by fellow Top 10 stars Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Frenchman Ugo Humbert, who won the most recent edition last year, will be present as he attempts to defend his title.
Andrey Rublev, Felix Auger-Aliassime will be competing in order to hone their grass-court game for Wimbledon, in addition to rising stars Jannik Sinner and Hubert Hurkacz.
