The 2024 ATP calendar has been announced with some changes noticeable such as the return of the Asian swing and the further expansion of Masters 1000 events.
The 2024 calendar will see 63 tournaments in 29 countries around the world with some noticeable changes or highlights as was written in the accompanying piece. The calendar will once again feature the United Cup, the second edition of it in partnership with the WTA and Tennis Australia.
As Ruud spoiled a few weeks ago, Los Cabos is moving from July to February being played the week before the Acapulco tennis event. It will also feature the expansion of several ATP 1000 events into 12-day formats which we generally only saw from Indian Wells and Miami. Besides the Sunshine double, Madrid, Rome and Shanghai will expand.
The summer schedule will be revised due to the inclusion of the Paris Olympics. The license for the current ATP event in Banja Luka will also be determined. We'll see players return to Asia with a full Asian swing that will see Tokyo and Beijing being played alongside the Shanghai Masters. The host city of the next-gen ATP Finals will also be determined in the near future.
The ATP chairman said:
“There are few sports that captivate fans all year round and in so many global markets like tennis. We put everything into creating the best possible experiences for fans as do the players, both on and off the court. From the United Cup in Australia to the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, it’s going to be another fierce and compelling season on the ATP Tour in 2024.”
