The second round continues towards its conclusion on Thursday at the
BMW Munich Open with
Holger Rune and
Taylor Fritz taking their first steps into action during the clay court staple in Germany.
Rune who lost out to Jannik Sinner last week in an epic made more headlines for his code violation and subsequent tweet of dismay to the ATP account for lauding Jannik Sinner. Patrick Mouratoglou, his coach then weighed in to share his want for tennis VAR. Hopefully Munich doesn't gleam the same issues. He will open up his tournament against Daniel Elahi Galan on Thursday. Also in action is Taylor Fritz.
Fritz will face Spanish qualifier, Alejandro Moro Canos. Having played three matches already, the 23-year-old took down Dominic Thiem last round for a landmark win and now has a tussle with the American ace for his troubles. Fritz will have a point to prove also after having his American Number One status taken away by Ben Shelton.
Jan-Lennard Struff who is fourth seed will take on Botic van de Zandschulp with only Alexander Zverev of the top names involved not playing today. Felix Auger-Aliassime also continues his campaign to round off the day against Taro Daniel.
Last 16 action is here and the Quarter-Finals are set to head towards taking shape on Thursday. But will the big names get through unscathed or encounter some shock upsets on the way? Rune and Fritz aren't squeaky clean when it comes to getting through without a test so could their relatively unfancied opponents upset the apple cart.
