3 drug tests in 6 days… this is insane🤦🏽♂️
After Alexandre Muller asked the ATP to stop testing him after every time he was defeated, Thanasi Kokkinakis was the latest to lament the ATP doping policies revealing the amount of times he'd been tested in nearly a week.
Kokkinakis took to social media to show his frustration penning: "3 drug tests in 6 days, this is insane." This came after winning an ATP Challenger tournament in Sarasota, Florida. Unlike Muller, it seems that the good form was enough to arise suspicion. For instance, Novak Djokovic was tested a staggering 21 times alone in 2021 with Rafael Nadal undergoing 14 tests.
Barbora Krejcikova was tested the most over the two tours with 36 tests equating to 0.7 tests per week. Albeit that isn't as much as Kokkinakis' likely current average. But these frequent tests have seemingly tripped some players up with Mikael Ymer and Jenson Brooksby both being banned for missing tests.
"Bro wins a challenger and suddenly they're suspicious," one fan responded to which Kokkinakis wrote: "So offended". One even linked Ymer announcing his return to the sport with Kokkinakis' constant testing. The price of success in the case of the Aussie.
