Novak Djokovic's arrival back in Australia is gaining popularity among the local folk having doubled since last year but it still only sits at 30 % which is somewhat surprising.
Novak Djokovic's arrival to Australia is not in doubt this year after his visa was reinstated by the new government but his popularity in the country isn't as strong as it used to be. That is according to polls that show only a third of Australians support the Serbian coming to the country. He still remains unvaccinated with the country having had one of the strictest COVID policies in the world.
In January of this year, a poll showed that only 14 % of Australians supported him staying and playing with 71 % against it. The numbers look quite different now as 30 % support him coming and playing but 41 % are still against it. The number of people who were indifferent to it in January was 15 % with the number now being 29 %.
The numbers clearly indicate that public favour is shifting in his favour with those that support or don't mind it sitting at 59 % compared to 29 % in January. Either way, he's going to be in Melbourne hunting his 10th Australian Open trophy.
