Mother of the former world number one
Andy Murray, Judy Murray,
has given her reaction about the news regarding the continuation of his son’s
coaching stint with Serbia’s
Novak Djokovic. Both started working together soon
after the former British tennis star announced retirement from professional
tennis after participating in the Paris Olympics last year.
At the time of the appointment, it was announced that Djokovic and Murray would work together in the 2025 season, but no timeline was given. The 37-year-old, who is regarded as the greatest player in the history
of men’s tennis in the singles category, having won as many as 24 Grand Slam
titles, failed in the first mega project with Murray as his coach as he was
forced to retire from the semifinal of the Australian Open because of a fitness
concern.
Ever since then, there has been uncertainty about whether
the two would continue working together. However, on Monday, different media outlets reported that the two will keep working together in the
upcoming two ATP 1000 events — the Indian Wells and the Miami Open. Both
competitions will take place in March.
Andy’s mother, Jude, reposted the news shared by Sky Sports with
a comment stating that it is a ‘fine bromance’ between the two. “A fine bromance……,” she wrote. Djokovic, after
taking part at the Australian Open, featured in the Qatar Open where he was
knocked out after losing to Italy’s Matteo Berrettini in the round of 32 in
straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-2. Djokovic is now set to feature at the
Indian Wells where he will start his campaign in the round of 64. The
Belgrade-born star did not have a great time while playing in the competition
last year where he was knocked out after losing in the round of 32 to Italy’s
Luca Nardi with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
