Andy Murray and Fabio Fognini will play against each other later today at the Rome Open and they spoke about their upcoming clash as veterans of the Tour.
It's going to be an interesting one between two players who have known each other from the juniors and basically came up together. They're the same age, they've played against each other a couple of times and both are looking forward to it. Tennis TV sat them down to ask about the mach and Fognini said:
"Two oldies back on the court. Yeah, it's nice to play against him because we know each other very well, since 14 years old. It's going to be interesting, especially here in Rome, in my hometown. I'm not feeling 100 % because I'm coming back from injury."
Murray:
"Yeah I mean we played all of the same junior tournaments when we were like 11 years old right until now. We're the same age and we've competed against each other at every single level. He loves playing here, in front of his home fans, great surface for him. Big test."
Murray is the favourite due to a solid showing in Aix recently and with Fognini lacking matches coming back from injury.
