Carlos Alcaraz is only one match away from going to the
Madrid Open final after beating
Karen Khachanov 6-4 7-5 in the quarter-final to book the semi-final.
Alcaraz has been performing really well this week in Madrid and today was another one of those. He took another player that has been playing very good tennis for a while and defeated him in two sets. The first set was quite normal in the sense that it went largely as expected. Both of them served well and played well hitting over 10 winners.
The key difference was that Alcaraz played the crucial rallies a tiny bit better saving the only break point he faced while converting one of the four he had on his opponent's serve. The second set saw however the Spaniard struggled a little bit because Khachanov was very good in that one. The Russian held a 5-2 lead when the match unravelled for him.
Alcaraz went on a hot streak winning five games in a row though Khachanov helped him greatly towards the end with a few errors. A lucky bounce awarded him a break point and a forehand error by Khachanov sealed it.
