Unfortunately I won't be able to play in @AbiertoTelcel. I have a grade 1 strain in my right hamstring that will keep me out for several days, according to the tests we did this morning.
Earlier this evening, it was confirmed that Carlos Alcaraz had withdrawn alongside Cameron Norrie from Abierto Mexicano Telcel Acapulco.
Alcaraz has since made a statement saying that he has suffered a grade one hamstring strain but that it will only keep him off the court for a short amount of time.
There were fears surrounding the Spaniard continuing to play having just recovered from injury winning Buenos Aires and losing in the final in Rio seemingly playing through some discomfort.
But it seems he has now taken precaution and will be back in time for Indian Wells in the coming weeks.
“Unfortunately I won't be able to play in Acapulco. I have a grade 1 strain on my right hamstring that will keep me out for several days. I'm really sad I can't compete here, but now it's time to think about recovering & being ready as soon as possible,” he said.
