Carlos Alcaraz suffered an abdominal injury late in the second set of his quarter-final match against Rune confirming after the match that the ATP Finals are in doubt.
Carlos Alcaraz was playing a very exciting match at the time when he injured himself against Rune. The problem seemed to be in his abdominal region and speaking after the match, Alcaraz confirmed the ATP Finals are in doubt:
"I'm gonna go back home and do the needed exams to see how bad the injury is. I was struggling today. There was no way I could continue".
Despite receiving a message and a tablet against pain, Alcaraz was unable to continue on playing through the pain which indicates an injury that is more than minor. Abdominal injuries are quite hard to heal and take a long time which is why Alcaraz said that the Finals are doubtful. It's far more likely that he won't play than he will but time will tell.
