Carlos Alcaraz will once again be in contention for the Barcelona Opne trophy after cruising past
Dan Evans 6-2 6-2 in the semi-final.
The Spaniard is the defending champion having won the event last year by beating Pablo Carreno Busta in the final. He's in the final again and will face Tsitsipas after they played last year here. That match was won by Alcaraz and he will be favoured once more due to his tremendous play this week.
Evans tried to stop his run in the semi-final but he had no chance realistically because Alcaraz plays very aggressively and Evans rather defensively. It's a bad combo and it proved that on the court as Alcaraz found plenty of ways to hit through Evans. It was a rather comfortable match even though Evans found ways to lengthen the rallies.
Only 16 games were played but the Spaniard proved much better in most of them booking a final once more. He won't play two matches in a day like last year which only makes his title defence more likely.
