It's no secret that Alcaraz likes Federer the most out of the top three and he kind of hinted at the Swiss ace being the GOAT when he called him the Messi of tennis.
The Spaniard grew up watching Federer play and he considers him his favourite tennis player. There are some similarities in how they play especially as they both like to attack and both have a deadly forehand. Ahead of his return to tennis in Buenos Aires, Alcaraz called Federer the Messi of tennis:
"Yes, Federer is the Messi of tennis because of how easy he [looks playing]. Messi was the superhero in the World Cup and practically put himself in the entire country so that Argentina would consecrate itself in Qatar. I loved [Federer's] tennis. I loved watching him play. I was watching his highlights all day, watching matches."
The return in Buenos Aires will be the first official event he plays in 2023 and he'll be playing as number two in the world. A new feeling but he's excited:
"I was not thinking of holding number one all year. It was clear to me that they were going to take it from me. I have not yet played as number two, so we will see what feel."
