Alexander Zverev had an easy going in round one against
Sebastian Ofner taking down the Austrian 6-2 6-4 6-4 in round one of
Roland Garros.
Zverev has a tendency to complicate things in early rounds of grand slams but this around there were no issues for Zverev against the qualifier. Zverev opened well showing a certain level of focus which is always good for him. The first set concluded with 6-2 for Sasha who attacked his opponent's 2nd serve and dropped only four points on his own serve.
Zverev continued playing sturdy tennis not allowing anything to his opponent. He mostly did what he needed to and generally did not push the issue. That's pretty standard for Zverev who took an early 3-1 lead and from there mostly focused on keeping his serve. He did not face any issues and he avoided giving his opponent any break point.
The German did the same in the 3rd set once again but this time around he had to wait a bit for the break. He got it at 4-3 taking a 5-3 lead. The first match points came on the serve of Ofner at 5-3 with Zverev missing 3 of them in that game. Eventually, he used the 4th and first on his serve to close out the deal. Good start for Sasha at the French Open as he did not face a single break point the entire match.
