Alexander Zverev continues his Roland Garros rhapsody, books semi-final

Alexander Zverev hasn't played that well leading up to this event but the German found something here at Roland Garros (French Open), he is in the semi-final after beating 6-4 3-6 6-3 6-4.

Zverev had a really good draw in all fairness getting a player who never stood in a quarter-final of a grand slam before and that certainly was a factor in this match. Even so, Etcheverry deserved to be here, he played great tennis and he did so today putting Zverev in a very tricky spot in the 3rd set.

The first set was quite interesting. Both players were able to hold their serve initially but the Zverev broke first as he was able to break down Eatcheverry who had a great chance to break back immediately in the next game having a 40-15 lead but he failed to do so. The second set saw him come back and take it 6-3 after a bit of a lacklustre showing from the German.

Etcheverry was able to hit some shots while Zverev made some mistakes and that was enough. The Argentine carried that momentum into the next set jumping out to a 2-0 lead. Zverev got the memo that it was 'go time' and he did turn things around completely and putting himself 4-2 ahead. He would hold that lead and finish things off 6-3 with a 12-winner effort.

The final set was another interesting one as Zverev took some time to finally find a breakthrough and it happened midway through the set. It was a very good set from the Argentine, probably one of his better ones at the event but still Zverev was able to produce the necessary level to get it done. He risked more than usual but also hit 15 winners so it worked out in his favour. He awaits either Ruud or Rune.
