In a hurry 💨 @AlexZverev routines Grenier 6-1 6-0 in less than an hour! #MMOpen
Alexander Zverev traditionally plays well in Madrid and after barely battling past Carballes Baena the German smashed Hugo Grenier 6-1 6-0 to advance at the Madrid Open.
Zverev is a former champion of this event and he stood in the final last year against Alcaraz. It seems like he's back to playing superb tennis in Madrid as he's barely lost any games in the past three sets he played. The final one against Carballes Baena was a bagel 6-0. The first set against Grenier here was a 6-1 win and the second one was a bagel again.
Two bagels in the last three sets he played, quite impressive. In this one, we saw an utter masterclass from the German. He was aggressive, he was finishing off rallies on his own terms and he blasted 25 winners compared to only 7 from his opponent. Only four of those 25 were aces though so he beat him from the baseline.
One game lost, 57 minutes total, masterclass.
