Alexander Zverev has bragging rights over Jannik Sinner and Boris Becker in career prize money

Despite never winning a Grand Slam title like colleague Jannik Sinner or tennis legend Boris Becker, Alexander Zverev has surpassed both in one particular aspect; career earnings.
The German superstar has reached two Major finals, finishing runner-up at both. Furthermore, he boasts an Olympic gold medal and an ATP Finals title, in addition to reaching the World No.2 position. Nonetheless, he has never been able to win a title on the biggest stage in tennis.
Zverev trails only the Big Four in career earnings
Nonetheless, the 27-year old has banked more than everyone else in tennis history, with the exception of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. Zverev has raked in a staggering £34.2million ($44.8million) across singles and doubles since turning pro in 2013.
Conversely, World No.1 Jannik Sinner has earned £21.1m ($28.6m) in career earnings. The Italian amassed £2.7m ($3.6m) from his win at Flushing Meadows last week, and has also earned £8m ($11m) and counting in 2024, the most on the ATP Tour.
Zverev has also made more than every retired tennis icon, including his compatriot Becker. The former World No. 1 won seven Grand Slam titles during his career but only earned £19m ($25m), with prize money significantly lower during his time on tour. Only Djokovic and Nadal have raked in more prize money than Zverev among active players, pocketing £141m ($184m) and £103m ($135m) respectively.

mandoist16-09-2024 - No offence, Mr. Lloyd, but where have you been the past two years?? How long have you been a tennis fan? This 'article' may be informative for newbies or fair-weather tennis observers but the majority of fans know the root of the multiple issues within WTA. The #1 issue being the subject of health & well-being which has been (or has attempted to be) addressed with the WTA Elitist council members last season. WTA was extremely dismissive of players' concerns and opposed to such a meeting. Eventually giving-in due to publicity and allowed selective players only -- no rep's, no medical personnel, and no team members. The meeting was a farce as WTA soon after that released an even more hectic schedule... with mandatory tourneys! Guess they weren't taking notes?? BTW: There is a lot missing from this piece concerning "withdrawals". No writer has yet taken the jump to get behind the scenes and dig at the problems -- obvious organizational problems. IMO, the top two issues are WTA's lack of proper attention to health & well-being of its Money-Makers; and Financial Greed. Tip to Mr. Lloyd: there is no "snubbing" when these players withdraw. These women have to take such measures as withdrawing from a tourney, and occasional time-off from the circuit, to protect themselves -- because WTA refuses to take any measures at all (although not allowing matches until sunrise is a start). Surely you can do better than point fingers at players. The finger-pointing should be directed entirely at WTA (and ATP). Be a true journalist, Mr. Lloyd, and research them!!mandoist16-09-2024
