Zverev Wimbledon 2021 2
Alexander Zverev will play in the 2nd week of Wimbledon after he overcame a loss of the first set vs Taylor Fritz to come back and win 6-7(3) 6-4 6-3 7-6(4).
A fabulous match between Zverev and Fritz happened today at Wimbledon nad it saw Zverev move to the 2nd week of the event. The first was a great one with both players playing very good tennis. Points were not long as strong serves reigned supreme but Fritz was able to save two break points he faced. Zverev did not allow any and we ended up in a tiebreak where Frit was more sound.
The 2nd set featured a better play by Zverev but also worse play by Fritz. The American struggled to win 2nd service points and committed more errors than winners which was not the case in the first set. That allowed Zverev to break him twice which proved enough for the 6-4 win.
The 3rd set featured solid play from Fritz but much more aggressive play by Zverev who played the best set of the match. He hit 9 winners to only 2 errors and did not allow a single break point towards the 6-3 finish. The final one was another good one with both players going for winners.
There were plenty of both but Zverev failed to convert several break points early so we ended up in the tiebreak. In it, it was Zverev who proved better winning it with 7-4. A great win for Zverev which came after almost a 3-hour long battle but a very impressive showing by Fritz not even a month after a knee surgery.
