Nick Kyrgios appeared to be rolling in his 3rd round match vs Auger-Aliassime but an abdominal injury forced the Australian to retire.
It was supposed to be a great and entertaining match and for a while it was but in the end, the
Wimbledon journey for Nick Kyrgios came to an end. The injury happened very early in the match at a time when Kyrgios was a break up. He called for an MTO timeout and received treatment for an injury that looked like an abdominal one.
Once he returned to the court he was able to hold his serve and win the first set with 6-2. In the 2nd set however things go worse for Kyrgios as he started serving with less power. His focus was all over the place as he lost his serve after 3 unforced errors.
He called for the trainer once more and he said to him that he won't finish the match as it's getting worse. As Auger-Aliassime took a double break lead Kyrgios was speaking to the crowd saying 'Sorry guys, it's the end of the road'. Auger-Aliassime wrapped up the 2nd set with 6-1 and Kyrgios retired from the match.
