Alexander Zverev played his first match since his Acapulco default and it came for Germany in the
Davis Cup against Thiago Seyboth Wild.
The German was not immediately suspended after his despicable episode in Acapulco despite calls by many. An investigation is underway so there is a chance that Zverev will still suffer some sort of consequences but in the meantime, he returned to tennis. Taking on Seyboth Wild on the clay of Brazil, the German cruised rather easily.
Zverev is very familiar with clay having won several events on the surface while also growing up on the surface in Hamburg. Switching to the surface in his words is never hard and she showed that tonight. From the start, Zverev was looked in and proved quite hard for his opponent to overcome. Seyboth Wild is an attacker and sometimes he takes it too far.
When he does he tends to make a lot of mistakes and things fell apart quickly. He was solid overall especially n the first set that Zverev won with 6-4. In the 2nd set things were a bit different as the Brazilian lost his focus a little bit and Zverev was able to cruise to a 6-2 2nds et finish giving Germany the 1-0 lead over Brazil.
