Another day at the Tokyo Olympic Games and another Alexander Zvere victory as the German defeats Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-4 7-6(5)
Alexander Zverev put forward yet another good performance against the tricky Nikoloz Basilashvili who thrived in the Tokyo conditions. The courts play a little slower which gives the Georgian ample time to set up his devastating forehand which was on display today.
Even so, Zverev was able to weather the storm and play just enough to secure a solid 6-4 6-4 win. It was nothing fancy from Zverev as he simply focused on the basics. He served well which allowed him to keep Basilahsvili away from any break points.
The first ones came fairly late in the match when Zverev was serving for the match at 5-3 as the Georgian let loose. He was striking the ball with a little regard and it worked as Zverev was caught off guard. They ended up in a tiebreak where Zverev took the early 2-0 lead.
From there it was an all out battle between the two but Zverev was able to emerge victorious in the end winning the tiebreak 7-5.
