Andrea Petkovic retired recently from tennis and the German recently spoke about Nadal's extraordinary career and why he has 22 grand slams.
Nadal is one of the greatest tennis players of all time and he's certainly the greatest tennis player on the red clay. His records speak for themselves and the fact that he has 22 grand slams total (most in history at the moment) only adds to that.
Speaking about Nadal, Petkovic highlighted his fighting spirit as one of the main reasons he got himself to 22 grand slams. Nadal battled many injuries in his career and despite all of that he was still able to accumulate so many trophies:
"That's why he might have 22 Grand Slam titles and I have zero. But I still have a nerve in my foot that I can feel and that works."
It was a lighthearted joke by Petkovic but it also speaks about Nadal's commitment to the game. What he did at this year's Roland Garros was incredible. Playing on a numb foot and playing so well is incredibly hard but he made it work, as he always does.
