Mats Wilander gave his comments on the retirement of Roger Federer expressing that he's really sad about it.
Mats Wilander is a former tennis player, one with an incredible career. A career that was eclipsed by Roger Federer rather quickly but the Swede always loved watching Federer play. The way he struck the ball, or the way he moved the ball, it was all just perfect.
That is why he was left saddened when the news came down that Federer is stepping away from the game that means so much to him:
"My feeling is very sad. I hoped that he had another 3 or four events in him, but seeing the level that the game has gone to maybe he realizes that it's impossible to get back to that level as a 41-year-old."
Wilander further added:
"I want to celebrate that Roger Federer took our game to the very top of sports. Not only was he the greatest tennis player at a time but he was also elected the greatest athlete in the world once or twice and that had never happened before."
