Andrey Rublev returned to tennis on hard courts in Washington and cruised past
Jack Draper 6-4 6-2 to secure the 3rd round.
The maestro of the ATP 500 returned to one of those in Washington and Andrey Rublev was largely unbothered against Draper. They played once this year and Rublev had a lot of issues battling back and winning that 3-set match in Madrid. Today was largely easy for the Russian as he imposed his will rather early.
Draper faced break points rather early in the match but he was able to hold his serve twice in those situations. Eventually, Rublev did get some more and he was able to close out the first set 6-4. The Russian himself did not allow a single break point hitting 7 aces and dropping only two points behind his first serve.
The 2nd set was even more impressive from Rublev who once again did most of his damage on the 2nd serve. Draper did not serve that well and that was a huge problem for him. Towards the end of the match, Rublev started to read the game much better and he was on time in most of the rallies and simply cruised. 6-2 was the score in the 2nd set as Rublev moved on to round 3.
