Andrey Rublev withdraws from Andalucia Open after deep Miami run

World no. 8 Andrey Rublev has made an expected move and withdrawn from the next week's inaugural AnyTech365 Andalucia Open in Marbella, leaving Alexander Zverev as the only top-10 player in the draw.

After Stan Wawrinka and Roberto Bautista Agut, Rublev is another notable player who will miss the ATP 250 event in Marbella, reaching the Miami Open semi-final and taking a well-deserved rest ahead of Monte Carlo.

The young Russian has been one of the players to beat in the last two seasons, heading to Miami with 16 victories from 19 matches in 2021 and embracing his most successful Masters 1000 event.

After winning the ATP Cup title for Russia and reaching the Australian Open quarter-final, Andrey claimed the fourth consecutive ATP 500 title in Rotterdam and advanced into the semis in Doha and Dubai. In Miami, Andrey defeated Tennys Sandgren, Marton Fucsovics, Marin Cilic and Sebastian Korda to earn his first Masters 1000 semi-final, facing Hubert Hurkacz in the battle for the final on Friday night.
