Andy Murray continues his grass season with another solid win over Gijs Brouwer at the Surbiton challenger 7-6(4) 7-6(3).
Andy Murray is through to the quarterfinals this year and it came at the Surbiton challenger. Murray faced Dutch player Gijs Brouwer and it was a typical grass match with two tiebreaks. Murray faced only one break point the entire match and it came at 5-5 in the first set. He had numerous on the serve of Brouwer but failed to find a breakthrough.
The tiebreak was pretty solid by both but Murray stepped up when he needed to and won 7-4. He dropped only five points in the first set on his first serve which was impressive. He also hit 7 aces as well. The 2nd set was pretty similar but this time around Murray had more issues. He had to save a few break points early on and while he was able to do that he still lost his serve a bit later 2-4.
He battled back immediately to make it 4-4 and he stabilized from there. At 5-5, Murray had two break points to jump out to a 6-5 lead but he failed to use them. Eventually, though, he found a breakthrough in the tiebreak making a 5-2 lead and finishing it off with 7-3.
