Andy Murray dropped the first set against Pedro Cachin but battled back to take the match in three sets 2-6 7-5 7-6(3).
The first set was an interesting one as it was quite a long one despite lasting only 8 games. You won't see many 8-game sets that lasted almost an hour but this one did as the rallies were quite long due to Cachin's clay background and the rather slow courts in Gijon.
The Argentine was much better taking it 6-2 as Murray struggled to find solutions. He did find them in the second set but it took him a while to get there. Cachin allowed more and more chances as time went on and Murray was able to use one late to take the set 7-5.
The final set was another interesting one as it opened with a break for Cachin who was up 1-0. Murray broke back immediately to make it 3-3 but surrendered his serve a couple of games later again. Once again Cachin was not able to hold onto it with the Brit breaking right back.
Eventually, we ended up in a tiebreak where Murray completely dominated winning 7-3. Another quarterfinal for Murray who has looked rather well indoors. To be fair he is not playing against some hard competition.
