Andy Murray wanted to play some more grass tennis this year so he travelled to Newport to take part in the final grass event of the year.
It's a longstanding tennis event in America that is hosted by the city where the tennis hall of fame is as well. Each year several legends get promoted to the Hall of Fame in Newport but for now, it's time for some grass tennis. Andy Murray got
Sam Querrey in the opening round and he proved too strong for the American who is marching towards retirement.
It was just a demolition of Querrey by a very inspired Murray who was dominating every facet of the match. Querrey's game is largely focused on his serve and always was. On grass, it's particularly important but there was no serve for him in this one. Obviously, that proved troublesome to overcome against Murray who was all over him.
Particularly on the 2nd serve where he won 8 of 9 points en route to a 6-2 finish. The 2nd set was even more impressive from Murray who serve Querrey a bagel in just 24 minutes. Murray served well all match long dropping only 10 points on it. On return Murray was spectacular winning 20 of 23 points on Querrey's 2nd serve. Can't get better than that.
