Mats Wilander doesn't think
Novak Djokovic is bothered much by his rankings drops especially after being able to win Wimbledon.
Novak Djokovic reached his goal of lifting a 7th Wimbledon trophy but the Serbian did not improve his rankings because of it. No, he actually dropped from number 3 to number 7. Well, that's a direct consequence of the ATP stripping the event of its points leaving Djokovic with no way of defending 2000 points won last year. He did do it, but it did not matter.
Obviously, he's not alone in this situation and while publicly branding the points stripping as a bad solution he was vocally opposed to the initial ban as well. For Mats Wilander, it's pretty clear. It won't bother him much:
"To Novak Djokovic, I don’t think it makes any difference whether he is the world No. 7 or world No. 1. For him, it’s all about Wimbledon titles and Grand Slam titles and being the best in history."
Wilander is right but it's going to be interesting to see how Djokovic handles dropping out of the top 10 which could certainly happen later this year due to his inability to travel to the United States to play the US Open.
